Nano-needling is a gentle, non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment designed to refresh the appearance of your skin and support a smoother, more radiant complexion.
Using a specialized nano-needling device, the treatment creates microscopic channels at the very surface of the skin to increase the skin's receptivity to the professional serums, ampoules and targeted ingredients applied during your treatment.
It's a great option for clients who want to improve the appearance of texture, fine lines, pigmentation and dullness without the downtime associated with more aggressive resurfacing treatments.
WHAT IS NANO-NEEDLING?
Unlike traditional microneedling, which uses needles to intentionally penetrate deeper into the skin, nano-needling works at a much more superficial level.
The device uses a specialized nano cartridge with microscopic cones or tips to create temporary pathways across the skin's surface. This allows professional serums and active ingredients to be applied as part of the treatment while providing gentle stimulation to the skin.
The treatment is generally comfortable and does not require the same recovery period associated with traditional microneedling.

NANO-NEEDLING
Nano-Needling works very superficially at the surface of the skin and is designed to provide gentle stimulation with little to no downtime.
MICRONEEDLING
Microneedling uses actual needles that penetrate deeper into the skin to create controlled micro-injuries and stimulate a wound-healing response.
If you're looking for a gentler treatment with minimal recovery, nano-needling may be a better fit. If you're looking for a more intensive collagen-inducing treatment, traditional microneedling may be more appropriate.
The right treatment depends on your skin and your goals.

It's also a great treatment to consider when you're looking for a pre-event glow with little downtime.

What To Expect
Your skin will first be thoroughly cleansed and prepared for treatment.
I’ll then select a professional ampoule or serum based on your skin’s needs and treatment goals. The serum is applied to the skin and nano-needled in using gentle, controlled movements to help enhance product absorption and deliver targeted ingredients where your skin needs them most.
WILL NANO-NEEDLING HURT?
No needles are penetrating deeply into the skin, so nano-needling is generally a comfortable treatment. You may feel a gentle vibrating or tingling sensation as the device moves across the skin, but it should not be painful.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
One of the benefits of nano-needling is that there is little to no downtime. Your skin may look slightly pink or feel warm immediately afterward, similar to a mild flush, but this typically settles quickly. Most clients can return to their normal activities after treatment.

Is nano-needling effective?
Nano-needling can be an effective cosmetic skin-enhancement treatment, particularly when the goal is to improve the appearance of dullness, dehydration, uneven texture and fine lines while enhancing the delivery of professional skincare products.
Because nano-needling is much more superficial than traditional microneedling, I would not promise the same collagen-remodeling results associated with medical microneedling. Your results will also depend on your skin, the products used and your treatment protocol.
Is nano-needling good for melasma?
It can be incorporated into a customized treatment plan when pigmentation is a concern, but melasma requires a very thoughtful approach. Any treatment that creates skin inflammation has the potential to aggravate pigmentation in some people.
Because I have personal experience treating pigmentation and melasma, I take a conservative approach and consider your skin's condition, current products and history before deciding whether nano-needling is appropriate.
Is nano-needling safe during pregnancy?
Because nano-needling is paired with professional ampoules and targeted skincare products, I don't perform nano-needling during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Some skincare ingredients are not recommended during pregnancy, and safety can vary depending on the products being used. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends reviewing skincare ingredients with your healthcare provider during pregnancy.
You can still enjoy a customized facial during pregnancy using pregnancy-appropriate products and techniques.
Is nano-needling good for rosacea?
Nano-needling isn't something I would automatically recommend for rosacea. Rosacea-prone skin can be sensitive and reactive, so the condition of your skin at the time of treatment matters.
If your rosacea is active, irritated or experiencing a flare, I would choose a gentler approach instead. If your skin is calm, we can discuss whether nano-needling is appropriate for you.
Is nano-needling the same as microneedling?
No. This is an important distinction.
Traditional microneedling uses needles that intentionally penetrate the skin to create controlled micro-injuries and stimulate a wound-healing response. Nano-needling is much more superficial and is primarily used to provide gentle surface stimulation and enhance the skin's receptivity to professional skincare.
Is nano-needling safe?
When performed appropriately with the correct device, disposable cartridge and professional protocol, nano-needling can be a well-tolerated cosmetic treatment. It's still not appropriate for every skin type or every situation.
I'll evaluate your skin before incorporating nano-needling into your Advanced Custom Facial and will choose another approach if your skin isn't a good candidate that day.
Is nano-needling good for acne scars?
Nano-needling may help improve the appearance of superficial acne scars, uneven texture and post-acne marks. I especially like incorporating it into a customized facial when the goal is smoother, more refined-looking skin.
Nano-needling is much more superficial than traditional microneedling, so it isn't intended to treat deeper, indented acne scars. If deeper scarring is your primary concern, a more intensive treatment may be appropriate.
